This tournament has never been organized before — and for good reason. The logistical complexity is extreme. Coordinating 32 elite sales representatives from competing companies, in the same city, on the same days, in the same neighborhoods, each with a dedicated service technician, under on-site officials, with independently verified results and a live public bracket, takes months of planning and a significant financial commitment. The risk is high. The personal benefit to organizing it is low.

We are doing it anyway — to finally settle the question every serious door-to-door sales professional has argued about for years:

who is actually the best?

Top In Company

All 32 tournament seats are filled in two phases. The full breakdown:

Phase 1 · 16 Seats One guaranteed seat per company. The top rep from each of the 16 highest-ranked companies on this table earns a spot. Only one rep per company qualifies through Phase 1.
Phase 2 · 16 Seats At-large — open to everyone. The top 16 performers across all remaining contenders, regardless of company. Multiple reps from the same company can earn Phase 2 seats. These reps appear in the All Other Contenders table below.

Phase 1 cut line at #16. Companies ranked #17 or lower don't earn a Phase 1 seat — but their top rep may still qualify through Phase 2 (At-Large). Only verified entries count.

All Other Contenders

Contenders whose company is already represented in the Top In Company table. These are the Phase 2 at-large candidates — the top 16 performers here earn the remaining 16 seats, and multiple reps from the same company can qualify.

Phase 2 at-large: the top 16 verified performers here earn the remaining 16 seats. Self-reported weekly bests — verified by the tournament committee.

Official Tournament Rules

The complete rules governing eligibility, selection, match play, scoring, integrity, and compensation for the D2D Pest Control National Championship.

Every rule in this document exists for one reason: a 100% level playing field. No home turf. No company stacking. No gray areas. No excuses.

Section I The Level Playing Field
No Home-Field Advantage
  • All 32 competitors travel to Houston, Texas. No competitor competes in their own market, their own territory, or their own company's footprint.
  • Travel to and within Houston, and all transportation costs, are the responsibility of the participant. Housing arrangements are communicated separately to qualified competitors and alternates.
  • Every competitor sells under the same systems, the same branding, the same pricing structure, and the same rules — for the first time in the industry's history.
No Advance Knowledge
  • Area assignments are revealed at the Coordination Meeting on the morning of each match day. No competitor knows their assigned area in advance.
  • Advance scouting of any assigned area is strictly prohibited and is grounds for immediate removal from the bracket.
  • The Host Company's identity is not published in advance. (See Section II.)
Fresh Area, Every Single Day
  • Competitors are assigned new area every match day. No competitor holds favorable area across multiple rounds.
  • All competitors enter and exit assigned area on the same day, under the same conditions.
  • Area is assigned in chunks drawn from a professionally mapped inventory of Greater Houston — the same way a production sales organization assigns territory to its own team. Seeding-period area is allocated to be substantively comparable across all pairings.
  • Houston is large enough to supply fresh, uncontested area to every competitor, every day, for the duration of the event.
Every Match Is Won Head-to-Head
  • Paired competitors are transported to the same chunk of Houston together, from the same check-in point, at the same time.
  • That chunk is divided by The Cut (see Section V) — neither competitor selects their own territory.
  • Both competitors sell the same hours, in the same area, on the same day, against the same market. Whatever the conditions are, both competitors face them equally.
  • Two full seeding days — not one — are used to establish the bracket precisely so that a single day's variance does not determine a competitor's placement.
Identical Rules of Play
  • All competitors sell using the Host Company's FieldRoutes systems and logins on all official selling days.
  • Official Championship polos and hats are provided to all participants and are required attire on official selling days.
  • All competition sales are subject to a published minimum price floor and maximum price ceiling, so no competitor competes on discounting and no competitor competes on inflation.
Full Transparency
  • The entire applicant list, the selection process, daily official tallies, verification records, and area assignment maps are published or retained and made available to any disputing competitor.
  • Final standings are certified and published on this website. Public transparency is the integrity mechanism.
Section II The Competition Selling Entity Model
  • Competitors do not sell under their own companies during the Championship. To guarantee a level field, all competitors sell under one entity, one brand, one price structure, and one set of systems.
  • All competition accounts are sold into and owned by an established, fully licensed residential pest control company (the "Host Company").
  • The Host Company services every account sold during the Championship and carries all licensing, solicitation, and consumer-protection compliance for the event in Houston, Texas.
  • Competitors sell using the Host Company's FieldRoutes systems and logins. Accounts are recorded, verified, and serviced within those systems.
  • Each competitor earns 100% of the net profit on every account they personally sell. (See Section XI.)
  • A competitor's home company — the entity that issues their IRS Form 1099 — is relevant only to field selection (Section IX). It has no role in how competitors sell, what they sell, or how they are scored during the event.
The Reveal
  • The identity of the Host Company is disclosed to all competitors shortly before the competition begins. This is deliberate: revealing it earlier would allow competitors with any connection to that company to gain familiarity with its systems, pricing, territory history, or personnel.
  • Every competitor learns the Host Company's identity at the same moment. No one gets a head start.
Section III Scoring & Metrics
Primary Metric: Same-Day Services
  • A match is decided by Same-Day Services — the number of accounts a competitor sells and has serviced by their dedicated technician on that same match day.
  • This is intentional. The volume of people you can help reflects true selling skill more faithfully than the contract value you can negotiate. A revenue-primary metric shifts incentives toward extraction rather than service, disadvantages competitors who maintain fair market-rate pricing, and creates pressure to oversell high-value contracts prone to cancellation.
Secondary Metric: ACV
  • Total contracted annual revenue value. ACV is the universal tiebreaker at every stage of the Championship. (See Section XIII.)
Sunset Cutoff
  • Official Houston sunset governs both the close of selling and the close of same-day servicing.
  • No sale made after official Houston sunset counts toward that day's match score.
  • No account serviced after official Houston sunset counts as a Same-Day Service.
Overflow Accounts
  • A competitor may sell more accounts than their technician can service before sunset. Those accounts are scheduled forward and remain fully valid sales.
  • Overflow accounts do not count toward that day's match score, but do count toward the competitor's cumulative production for the Wildcard Track (Section VII), and do earn the competitor 100% of net profit in perpetuity.
  • Where a competitor has sold more accounts than can be serviced before sunset, the competitor designates which accounts are serviced same-day.
Sunday
  • Sunday is not a selling day. No sale made on a Sunday counts, and no service performed on a Sunday counts, at any stage of the Championship.
Section IV Competition Format
  • Two official seeding days, followed by the bracket, followed by the Championship Match.
  • All competitors sell on every official selling day. Losing a bracket match does not end participation.
  • Two parallel tracks run simultaneously on the same body of selling:

Bracket Track

  • Head-to-head single elimination, producing one Bracket Champion.

Volume Track

  • Cumulative production across all official selling days, producing one Wildcard.
  • The Bracket Champion and the Wildcard meet in the Championship Match to determine the National Champion.
Section V The Match Day
Daily Schedule
TimeEvent
10:00 AMCoordination Meeting (1 hour). Pairings confirmed, area assignments revealed, equipment and recording devices issued.
11:00 AMDeparture. Paired competitors travel together to their assigned chunk in one of their technicians' vehicles.
ArrivalThe Cut is performed. Selling begins.
Official SunsetSelling closes. Same-day servicing closes.

Competitors may mutually agree to a stop time earlier than sunset. Absent agreement, official Houston sunset governs. No competitor may withhold agreement to gain advantage.

The Cut — Divide and Choose
  • One competitor divides the assigned chunk into two halves they consider equal. The other competitor chooses which half to sell.
  • The divider may end up with either half. They are therefore incentivized to split fairly.
  • A coin toss determines which competitor elects to cut or to choose. This applies to seeding days, bracket matches, and the Championship Match.
  • If a competitor believes a division is grossly unequal, they may request an official review before selling begins. The official may order a re-cut.
  • Each competitor sells only within their own half. Sales made outside the assigned half do not count.
Match Boundaries

Sales count toward a match score only when all of the following conditions are met:

  • Sold within the competitor's assigned half.
  • Sold within the official match window, before Houston sunset.
  • Serviced by the competitor's dedicated technician before Houston sunset.
  • Recorded in the Host Company's systems and confirmed against the record of sale.
  • Linked to the competitor's official audio recording for the day.
Section VI Seeding
  • Two official selling days. Seeding is determined by total Same-Day Services across both days. Tiebreaker: total ACV.
  • Highest producer earns the No. 1 seed; lowest earns the No. 32 seed. Standard 1v32, 2v31 bracket draw applies.
  • Seeding also determines technician selection order. (See Section VIII.)
  • The Championship retains the production of one of the two seeding days to fund the organization and operation of the event. This is a financial arrangement only — that day's Same-Day Services and ACV count in full toward seeding position and toward Wildcard volume. Every bracket match day and Championship Match day belongs entirely to the competitor.
Section VII The Bracket, the Wildcard, and the Championship Match
Bracket Track
  • Standard 32-person single elimination: Round of 32 → Round of 16 → Quarterfinals → Semifinals → Bracket Final.
  • Seeding ensures top seeds cannot meet until later rounds.
  • Each bracket match is one official selling day under standard match day rules.
  • The winner of the Bracket Final is the Bracket Champion and earns an automatic berth in the Championship Match.
  • If a competitor is removed from the bracket mid-competition, their opponent receives a bye for that round and advances. Alternates do not enter the bracket after Round 1 has begun.
The Consolation Leaderboard
  • Elimination from the bracket does not end a competitor's event. Every competitor sells every remaining official selling day.
  • Eliminated competitors are paired daily under the identical structure: new pairing, new area, the Cut, dedicated technician, sunset cutoff, full recording and verification.
  • All production continues to count toward the Volume Track and toward the competitor's own earnings.
Volume Track — The Wildcard
  • The Wildcard Pool includes every competitor except the Bracket Champion.
  • The Wildcard is ranked by cumulative total sales — same-day serviced and scheduled-forward — from the first seeding day through the conclusion of the bracket. Tiebreaker: cumulative ACV.
  • The Wildcard honors the greatest total body of work across the entire event, uncapped — a deliberate contrast to the bracket match, which tests bounded same-day execution against a single opponent.
  • The single highest cumulative producer earns the Wildcard and a berth in the Championship Match. The slot honors exactly one competitor.
Championship Match
  • Bracket Champion vs. Wildcard. Begins the day after the bracket concludes. Sunday is never a selling day.
  • Two selling days, structured like seeding. The Bracket Champion decides which competitor cuts the area on each of the two days.
  • Decided by combined two-day total Same-Day Services. Tiebreaker: combined two-day ACV, then the final fallback (Section XIII).
  • The winner is the National Champion. Final standings are published and certified on this website.
Section VIII Technicians
  • Every competitor is assigned a dedicated service technician for the duration of the event. No competitor shares servicing capacity with another competitor.
  • During the seeding period, technicians are assigned at random.
  • Once seeding concludes, competitors select their technician in order of seed — the No. 1 seed selects first, through the No. 32 seed. Technician performance data from the seeding days is made available to competitors before selection.
  • Alternate technicians are retained on standby. If a technician becomes unavailable due to illness, departure, or vehicle failure, an alternate is substituted immediately.
  • If a technician becomes unavailable mid-match, the affected competitor may petition the Committee for review of that match result. The Committee may order a remedy appropriate to the disruption.
Section IX Field Selection — The 32 Seats
Phase 1 — Company Representation (16 Seats)
  • The 16 highest-producing distinct Companies each receive one seat, filled by that Company's single highest-producing verified applicant. Companies are ranked by their top applicant's Sales, then ACV.
Phase 2 — At-Large (16 Seats + 2 Alternates)
  • The remaining 16 bracket seats and 2 alternate positions are filled from all remaining verified applicants — strictly by highest Sales, then ACV — regardless of Company. A Company that already holds a Phase 1 seat may hold additional at-large seats.
  • If fewer than 16 distinct Companies produce verified applicants, Phase 1 seats all qualifying Companies and Phase 2 fills the remaining bracket seats and alternates.
  • The final at-large seat and the two alternate positions are separated by the standard tiebreaker order. Alternates are published by rank.
Rationale

Phase 1 guarantees the field is national — 16 different companies represented — and prevents a small number of large organizations from dominating the bracket through headcount alone. Phase 2 ensures the remaining seats go to the strongest producers in the country, regardless of who they work for.

Alternates
  • Two alternates are selected from the Phase 2 at-large pool and travel to Houston with the field. Housing is arranged for alternates on the same terms as competitors.
  • Alternates sell from the first seeding day and on every official selling day thereafter, under identical conditions, and receive 100% net profit compensation on everything they sell.
  • An alternate enters the bracket only to fill a seat vacated before Round 1 begins — through a seeding-phase removal, a withdrawal, or a no-show. Alternates are called in published rank order.
  • Alternates do not enter the bracket once Round 1 has begun.
  • An alternate is eligible for the Wildcard and the National Championship only if they were seated in the bracket at Round 1.
Section X Integrity & Conduct
Conduct Standards
  • All selling must be lawful and ethical and fully compliant with applicable solicitation, licensing, and consumer-protection rules in Houston, Texas.
  • No misrepresentation to a homeowner, under any circumstances.
  • Strictly prohibited: advance scouting; selling outside your assigned half; selling outside the official match window; falsifying sales records; tampering with another competitor's area, technician, or equipment.
Audio Recording
  • Every competitor is provided a recording device and is required to record the full selling day, from first door to last.
  • Recordings are reviewed nightly. Automated review flags potential violations for human review; the Committee — not an automated system — makes every ruling.
  • Any sale that cannot be linked to the competitor's recording is removed from tournament scoring.
  • A complete list of disqualifying conduct is provided at orientation.
Recording Privacy
  • Recordings are handled under strict payment-data privacy and compliance standards. Competitor recordings are never published, never released publicly, and never shared outside the Committee's review process. They exist for one purpose: verifying the integrity of the competition.
Consequences
  • Competitors keep 100% of the net profit on every account they sell in all circumstances, including accounts struck from tournament scoring. There is no financial incentive, anywhere in this structure, to remove a competitor's sales.
  • Removal of a sale: where the Committee finds by majority vote that a specific sale violated the rules, that account is removed from tournament scoring. The competitor retains 100% of the net profit on that account.
  • Removal from the bracket: where conduct warrants it, the competitor is dropped to the Consolation Leaderboard. They continue selling, retain all net profit, and remain eligible for the Volume Track.
  • Permanent ban: material misrepresentation in the application or verification process results in a permanent ban from the D2D Championship.
Result Certification
  • Live results are provisional. Every match result is officially locked at 6:00 AM the following morning, after overnight recording review is complete. Standings shown before that time may change.
Section XI Compensation — 100% Net Profit
  • The event is organized and administered by D2DChampionship LLC, a separate entity, which pays all participants directly.
  • Every participant receives 100% of the net profit on every account they personally sell during the Championship — in perpetuity, for the full renewal lifetime of the account.
  • Net profit is defined as account revenue less the variable costs of servicing that account — labor, chemical, and fuel.
  • The Host Company produces a monthly report of total revenue and total expenses for each participant's book of accounts. D2DChampionship LLC delivers those reports to participants and initiates payment monthly.
  • There is no clawback. If an account cancels, revenue on that account simply stops. Net profit already earned is never reversed.
  • Continuity: if the Host Company sells a book of accounts that includes a participant's accounts, that participant receives payment equal to the multiple the Host Company receives on those accounts, less proportionate transaction costs.
  • The only production not retained by the participant is one of the two seeding days, which funds the organization and operation of the event. Every bracket match day and every Championship Match day belongs entirely to the participant.
Section XII The Champion's Purse
  • The National Champion receives, from every competitor in the Round of 32, that competitor's highest-ACV active sale from Round 1. Those accounts are transferred into the National Champion's name within the Host Company's systems.
  • The Champion receives 100% of the net profit on those accounts in perpetuity, on the same terms as their own production.
  • Second and third place receive the net profit on their own production, in perpetuity, like every other participant.
  • The purse is sandbag-proof: because the forfeited account is a competitor's highest-ACV Round 1 sale, no competitor can identify or manipulate which account it will be while selling. And because ACV is the universal tiebreaker, no competitor has any incentive to sell low.
  • Participation in the Round of 32 constitutes agreement to this transfer. The purse is a cost borne equally by every competitor in the field — and a prize any one of them can win.
Section XIII The Universal Tiebreaker

Any tie at any stage — qualification, seeding, a bracket match, the Wildcard Pool, or the Championship Match — is broken in this order:

  • 1. Total ACV revenue.
  • 2. If ACV is also tied, a final fallback determined by an official: earliest time-stamped final sale of the period, or coin toss.

All references to a "tiebreaker" elsewhere in these rules refer to this section.

Section XIV Key Definitions
TermDefinition
Host CompanyThe licensed residential pest control company that owns, services, and holds compliance responsibility for all accounts sold during the Championship. Identity disclosed to competitors shortly before the event.
CompanyFor field selection only: the legal entity that issues an applicant's IRS Form 1099 and holds their signed sales rep agreement. If the two differ, the 1099-issuing entity governs. Brand names, franchise labels, and sales-org names that do not match the 1099 entity are not separate Companies.
SaleA residential pest account (non-termite) sold and recorded to the competitor within their assigned area during the official match window, confirmed against the Host Company's record of sale and linked to the competitor's audio recording.
Same-Day ServiceA Sale serviced by the competitor's dedicated technician before official Houston sunset on the day it was sold.
Overflow AccountA Sale scheduled for service on a later day. Counts toward Volume Track and earnings; does not count toward a match score.
ACVTotal contracted annual revenue value of an account.
Primary MetricTotal count of Same-Day Services.
Secondary MetricTotal ACV — the universal tiebreaker at every stage.
The CutDivision of an assigned area into two halves by the divide-and-choose method.
Net ProfitAccount revenue less variable servicing costs: labor, chemical, and fuel.
Section XV How to Apply
Application Requirements
  • Applications are submitted on this website and require: full name, phone number, email address, Company (1099-issuing entity), best single-week Sales count for the 2026–2027 season, best single-week ACV revenue for that same week, and image proof of both figures.
  • Figures must come from a single seven-day week between January 2026 and October 2027.
  • All applicants are listed publicly, including name, Company, and submitted figures. Phone and email are used for administration only and are never published.
  • By submitting, the applicant authorizes public display of their name, Company, and submitted figures.
Verification
  • Additional verification is mandatory for any applicant contending for one of the 32 seats. The Committee will contact contenders by phone, text, or email prior to competition.
  • If figures cannot be verified, or are found to be materially overstated, the applicant is disqualified and the seat passes to the next eligible applicant.
  • All verification concludes before the seeding phase begins.
Section XVI Disputes & Governance
Disputes
  • Written disputes must be filed with officials within a defined window after a result is announced.
  • Disputes are reviewed against the Host Company's records of sale, the competitor's audio recording, and these official rules.
  • Official daily tallies, verification records, and cut and area assignment maps are retained and made available to any disputing competitor upon request.
  • Committee rulings are final and binding.
The Committee
  • The Committee is composed of an odd number of members, selected by the organizer, and rules by majority vote.
  • No Committee ruling that removes a sale from tournament scoring affects a competitor's compensation. Sales removed from scoring remain the competitor's for compensation purposes, in perpetuity.
  • The selection process and the full applicant list are published on this website, making every decision auditable by anyone.
Section XVII Live Spectating
  • The tournament bracket is free to spectate, updated minute to minute, and shared nationwide.
  • Live standings are provisional until certified at 6:00 AM the following morning.
  • Spectators may vote on every match and are ranked on a Voting Leaderboard by prediction accuracy.
  • Each spectator receives 100 virtual points to wager double-or-nothing on any match. Virtual points are not legal tender and hold no cash value. The Betting Leaderboard exists purely for engagement and bragging rights.
Section XVIII Logistics
  • Systems: The Host Company's FieldRoutes application is used for all official selling days.
  • Apparel: Championship knocking polos and hats are provided to all participants and are required on official selling days.
  • Equipment: Recording devices are issued at the Coordination Meeting and returned at the end of each selling day.
  • Transportation: Travel to Houston and all transportation within Houston is the responsibility of the participant. Transportation to assigned area on match days is provided via technician vehicle from the Coordination Meeting.
  • Segways are permitted but not provided.
  • Sunday is not a selling day at any point in the Championship.
